Weleda wins Sustainability Beauty Award

Weleda recently won Organic Monitor’s Sustainability Beauty Award in the category Sustainability Leadership. The jury recognised Weleda’s continuing contribution to sustainability leadership and gave special mention to its business model based on value creation. Since the company was founded in 1921, Weleda has launched a number of projects that unite different aspects of sustainability.

“This latest award is especially important to us because of our unique roots,” says Andreas Sommer, Chief Commercial Officer of the Weleda Group. “Economic, social and environmental responsibility have been at the heart of our business since 1921, and we are constantly looking for new ways to improve what we do. To have our efforts recognised in this way has been tremendously rewarding.”

The award was organised by Organic Monitor, a provider of global research, consulting and training with regard to sustainable development, which is well-established in the natural cosmetics industry. The aim of the Sustainable Beauty Awards bestowed for the first time, is to give recognition to cosmetic and related firms who push the boundaries of sustainability in the beauty industry. Speaking at the awards reception in Paris, Amarjit Sahota (founder and president of Organic Monitor) stated: “As well as giving industry recognition, we hope the awards will inspire others in the beauty industry to take the green road.”
