National and Global Networking

The 'Bodiversity in Good Company' Initiative, with its headquarters in the middle of Berlin, offers an excellent reputation, a first class network and direct dialogue with decision makers. In this way, the Initiative facilitates cooperation opportunities between the member companies, national, and international partners from politics, academia, and civil society. 'Biodiversity in Good Company' is a member state participant in the EU Business and Biodiversity (B@B) Platform of the European Commission, which entered into phase 2 in 2014.

The Platform provides an EU level forum for sustained and strategic dialogue about the links between business and biodiversity. There are three main workstreams:

  2. Innovation for Biodiversity and Business: promoting innovation that contributes to nature protection and provides opportunities for businesses (including SMEs), by showcasing innovative companies / business models and identifying opportunities for fostering new business models.
  3. Access to Finance and Innovative Finance Mechanisms: demonstrating the benefits to businesses (including SMEs) of biodiversity-related investments, as well as showcasing financing schemes for biodiversity and champions in the finance sector who are funding biodiversity related project or who are using nature-related criteria for financing decisions.

International: Member of the CBD Global Partnership for Business and Biodiversity (GPBB)

The "Global Partnership on Business and Biodiversity" stems from the ongoing engagement of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) with the business sector. At the 10th Conference of the Parties to the CBD  (CBD-CoP 10) in Japan in 2010, parties decided to establish a platform for the business sector, recognizing the importance of globally engaging private enterprises in the achievement of the objectives of the CBD. The main purpose of the platform is, as it says in CoP 10 decision X/21 on "business engagement", to "encourage establishment of the national and regional business and biodiversity initiatives by facilitating a forum of dialogue among Parties and other Governments, business, and other stakeholders, with a particular focus on the global level". 'Biodiversity in Good Company' Initiative has been a partner in this process from the very beginning and cooperates with the other initiatives and participants.
