Saraya: Winner of the “Fuji Sankei Business i.” Award
On February 26 in Japan, the winner of the “19th Top Prize for Global Environment” Award was announced. At the award ceremony on April 8, which was attended by the Japanese Prince Fumihito of Akishino and Princess Kiko, Saraya was honoured with the “Fuji Sankei Business i. Award”.
In 1992 the Fuji Sankei Group together with the WWF Japan (Honorary chairman Japanese Prince Fumihito of Akishino) created the Global Environment Award. This award recognises enterprises taking direct steps to preserve the global environment through implementing good business practices which harmonise economic stability with environmental needs. Saraya’s biodiversity-preserving activities in Sabah, Borneo – where the company gets a large portion of its raw materials from – was acknowledged. Previously a member company of the “Biodiversity in Good Company" Initiative has won the top prize for the Global Environment Award.
