The Business and Biodiversity Initiative is happy to announce CAIXA Economica Federal as our newest member.  CAIXA is a public Brazilian bank with a global turnover of ca. 22 billion US dollars.

CAIXA is responsible for the financial administration of several of the brazilian environment Ministry’s projects and finances several other environmental projects.  These projects are both small, such as their imcro finance initiatives, and large, such as the creation of ecolocigal corridors in the Amazon and Altantic forests.

CAIXA promotes the consideration of biodvierstiy in the finance and banking industry through the development of appropropriate guidelines and is also a signatory to the Banks Protocol of Intentions for Social Environmental Responsibility (New Green Protocol) and the United Nations Global Compact.
