Biological Diversity in HiPP's Sustainability Report 2015

In its recently published Sustainability Report 2015 HiPP, a leading manufacturer of baby foods, again underlines its strong committment to biodiversity. "We have elevated biodiversity protection to a mission statement and thus placed it in the forefront of our entrepreneurial objectives", say Professor Dr. Claus Hipp and Stefan Hipp in the foreword to the publication.

Not only does HiPP dedicate a comprehensive chapter specifically to biodiversity, but it also makes clear throughout the report the complex links of its business model to soil fertility and healthy ecosystems on the whole.

The company pays special attention to the future of ecological agriculture. For HiPP as a food manufacturer, the greatest opportunity to exercise influence lies in the preliminary stages of agriculture. For example, in response to the lack of standardised methods for evaluating biodiversity, HiPP took up the challenge of trialling its own practice-based approach. The company works on developing methods and indicators for biodiversity-friendly farming for the categories of grasslands, grain, vegetables and fruit by the end of 2016.
