The first step is to identify key dependencies and impacts. Various free tools and guidelines support companies in getting started.
The well-known WWF Risk Filter Suite helps identifying risks in the supply chain. Additionally, the Global Nature Fund (GNF) and the Bodensee-Stiftung provide checklists to assess impacts on and dependencies on biodiversity, including industry-specific versions.
If an environmental management system is already in place, the 2023 GNF guide on protecting biodiversity within EMAS environmental management systems explains how biodiversity aspects can be integrated.
