Our internal meetings offer topic-specific and practice-oriented keynote speeches from carefully selected experts from academia and research, business, nature conservation and politics. The goal is to transfer knowledge and expertise to our members. The thematic selection is based on memerbs´ needs, the working groups and the indications of the BOD.
The 41st expert meeting, for example, conveyed interesting information on the subject of biodiversity and insect protection, including from Dr. Hans-Dieter Reckhaus of INSECT-RESPECT on the subject of “Transformation in the company” and the contribution from Werner Schulze, BFA entomologist at NABU.
Tobias Wildner (Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ, Kuyua) explained the “Michael Otto Foundation's guide to materiality analysis within the framework of the CSRD” and explained how companies should approach a well-founded biodiversity reporting in order to benefit from it as quickly as possible.
In her presentation, Coline Ganz gave an insight into the international activities of Business for Nature, the global association of over 100 partner organizations and future-oriented companies that are committed to a nature-friendly economy.
Prof. Dr. Jan Paul Lindner from the University of Augsburg brought theory to life using exciting cases and presented “The BVI Method” – the unit developed by him and his team for measuring biodiversity value growth (BVI), or in other words biodiversity quality.
Julia Schäfer presented SCHWARTAU as a new member and highlighted several of the company's measures that demonstrate the company's long-standing commitment to sustainability and biodiversity, to name just a few of about ten contributions to the 41st expert meeting.
Three internal meetings are generally organised exclusively for our members each year, always with the same goal: to increase biodiversity related competence within the company.

In workshops, participants develop topic-specific and practice-oriented concrete measures and solutions and expand the network through important contacts in order to be able to offer all members added value.
Specific topics that are currently being addressed:
“Area acquisition and management” – many companies are obliged to create so-called compensatory areas for their activities, which often involve interventions in nature.
“How do you measure biodiversity?” – the need to make the effectiveness of measures to protect and promote biodiversity measurable is becoming increasingly important for companies in the context of the CSRD.
The working group meets regularly online, collects and discusses real examples, develops best practice recommendations and ideas for better implementation, maintenance and monitoring of measures. It consists of representatives of the members Audi, BahnLog, einhorn, Immerbunt, Nala Earth, Omlor, Schmeer Sand + Kies and Knauf Gips KG. The working groups are open to all members.

The Reporting Working Group consults on specific issues relating to sustainability reporting. In 2024, the working group integrated the new CSRD Directive into our guidelines on reporting on biodiversity. This means that the already mandatory reporting can also be used for our members' progress reports.
New formats are being planned for 2025.
The working group meets regularly online and reports to members during internal working meetings. It consists of representatives of the members Symrise, kuyua, BeeHome by Pollinature, oekom verlag and Commerzbank. The working groups are open to all members.
