We founded green account in 2021 out of a deep conviction: nature conservation must become an attractive business model for landowners. We are revolutionizing the compensation process by offering landowners — such as farmers and foresters — and stakeholders involved in land-use interventions a transparent and efficient space to offer, search for, reserve, and trade compensation measures.

In addition, we support companies — even those without legal compensation obligations — in preparing for the future and meeting their sustainability goals, right here in Germany and in their own backyards. Our projects aim to restore ecosystems by planting hedgerows and traditional orchards, afforesting land, and rewetting peatlands. These measures create ecologically valuable and species-rich regional habitats.
The foundation of our “Nature Credit System” is the German Federal Nature Conservation Act. All our projects are evaluated using the biotope value method and secured through eco points (Ökopunkte), Germany’s standardized unit of measure for ecological enhancement. This ensures that our projects are legally robust, long-lasting, and deliver genuine impact for nature.
