Why and how we commit ourselves
We are the Society for Applied Business Ethics (GfaW), a standard-setting organization for product certifications and sustainability certifications for companies.
Our motivation for joining Biodiversity in Good Company is deeply rooted in our conviction that protecting and promoting biodiversity is essential for a sustainable and ethical way of doing business. Through the development of innovative sustainability standards, we have already made significant efforts to promote environmentally friendly practices in the economy.
Our organization has extensive experience in integrating biodiversity into our business model and management practices. Within our CSE Standard (Certified Sustainable Economics), there is a specific criterion that highlights the importance of biodiversity. One example of this is: “When choosing partnerships, sustainability dimensions such as transportation routes, promotion of biodiversity, animal welfare, climate neutrality of the company and transport, etc., have at least the same priority as pricing conditions.” This requirement ensures that biodiversity aspects are considered when selecting business partners (by us and our clients), to guarantee positive environmental impacts. Additionally, the use of ecological ingredients is a central criterion in all of our sustainability standards.
The BiGC Membership offers us the opportunity to further strengthen our commitment to biodiversity. It also enables us to exchange knowledge, collaborate with like-minded organizations, and contribute to the development of effective strategies for biodiversity protection.
