Insect Respect wins Commitment Award of the Bertelsmann Foundation: "My good example" 2017

Dr. Hans-Dietrich Reckhaus has been honored in Berlin with the prize „My good example“. On 30th March 2017, the initiator of the Insect Respect quality seal for insect control with ecological compensation received the award from Liz Mohn, deputy chairperson of the Bertelsmann Foundation. Insect Respect was awarded for its “strengthening of the awareness for biodiversity and the ecological value of insects”.

Liz Mohn congratulated and showed herself delighted by the entrepreneurs’ commitment: “Economy and society have to be thought together. Companies are important players in the society. They adhere to their responsibility for employees, clients and their region”. The prize shall give also bolster up the young generation’s courage for change and commitment. 

On the same day, the Insect Respect "Insects Day" took place in Bielefeld, Germany, in cooperation with the Natural History Museum Bielefeld (namu). "Promoting insects" was the topic of the interdisciplinary conference, in which different actors from Germany presented their activities in order to strengthen public awareness of the value of the insects. Carolin Boßmeyer, Managing Director of the 'Biodiversity in Good Company' Initiative, presented opportunities for businesses to contribute to the protection and sustainable use of global biodiversity.
