Biodiversity in natural capital assessments - workshop summary

The Cambridge Conservation Initiative, in partnership with the Natural Capital Coalition and with the support of the EU Business @ Biodiversity Platform, aims to better address biodiversity in natural capital accounting. The results of a first workshop, which took place on 19 September 2017 in Brussels, are now available.

The background to the project is the emerging topic of natural capital accounting, which has also been reflected in the development of the Natural Capital Protocol as a framework in recent years. Many voices have noted that the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity has not yet been adequately addressed in this process. <link http: www.business-and-biodiversity.de en newsarchive news initiative-for-a-better-integration-of-biodiversity-in-the-natural-capital-protocol _blank external-link-new-window externen link in neuem>More about the background.

The aim of the biodiversity initiative is to develop a "Biodiversity Supplement to the Natural Capital Protocol". The workshop participants had the opportunity to contribute their ideas and knowledge.
