During the 77. General Assembly of the United Nations, held two days ago in New York, Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that Germany will contribute to the financing of international protection of biodiversity with 1,5 billion Euro yearly by 2025, which means around the double investment performed in 2017-2021.

During the side event “Countdown to CBD COP15: Landmark Leaders Event for a Nature Positive World” Germany also joined the launch of the “Shared Vision: Ten Point Plan to Finance Biodiversity”, which aims, among others, at aligning policies related to financial streams for biodiversity.

Video of H.E. Mr Olaf Scholz, including the statement of “[…] Financing matters. Private investments should be oriented towards our biodiversity goals to help us close the gap in nature financing”, can be seen here.

The Ten Point Plan can be found here.

The summary of the side event on the preparation to CBD COP 15 can be seen here.
