Commitment to biodiversity: UN Global Compact recognizes Beraca President as a 2016 Local SDG Pioneer
At the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2016 on 22 June in New York, Ulisses Matiolli Sabará, President of Beraca, was honored for his commitment to the protection of biodiversity. He was announced as one of ten 2016 Local SDG Pioneers for his efforts that align with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15 on Life on Land.
“Each of the 2016 Local SDG Pioneers exemplifies how business can be a force for good in addressing the challenges we face as a global society,” said Lise Kingo, UN Global Compact Executive Director. “Mr. Sabará is a passionate advocate for protecting biodiversity and the environmental integrity of the Amazon. His work has benefitted thousands of families, while also generating economic and social opportunities in the region – making him a pioneer for life on land.”
