Corporations need a sustainable ecological foundation to maintain their long-term business activities and commitments. Biodiversity is an integral part of this indispensable foundation. In order to preserve ecosystems and to maintain the stability of this foundation, companies need to adopt necessary business practices that spare resources and protect biodiversity.
We started our first biodiversity conservation projects in Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia in 1998. The focus was set on forestation programmes designed to regenerate the mangrove woods and tropical rain forests in those countries. In Japan we have undertaken forestation projects in the Mount Aso region and in the prefectures of Kochi and Wakayama, in an effort to preserve domestic biodiversity.
