HiPP - Creating a Sound Environment for the Next Generation

Our Targets

It is a particular commitment for us to steadily increase the amount of organic raw materials that we use in our products. We want to protect two endangered habitats in particular:

  • In order to protect the primeval forests against deforestation, we will only use paper and packaging materials made of recycling paper or FSC-certified products across the entire Hipp Group from 2008 onward.
  • To protect the seas against overfishing, we are putting an effort into using organic or MSC-certified fish in our production line and at our staff cantine.

Our Motivation

As the worldwide largest processor of ecologically produced raw materials, we see it as our special commitment to protect our planet's biodiversity. Thus, we are against the use of genetically modified foods in baby food, because babies are amongst the most sensitive consumers in the world.

Our Focus

For more than 50 years, Hipp has been buying raw materials from organic farms for the manufacture of high-quality baby food. Today, more than 6.000 organic farmers produce vegetables and fruits for Hipp on about 15.000 hectares of land in 29 countries.

Thus, 15.000 hectares of soil and about 12.5 million cubic metres of rainwater are being protected from chemical fertilisers and pesticides.

Due to our consistent efforts in converting our systems to regenerative energy sources (biomass, power and heat supply plants,  biogas plants, green energy, solar plants, upgraded insulation, vehicles that run on vegetable oil), we have managed to make production climate neutral at our location in Pfaffenhofen (around 1.000 employees) since 2007. This has resulted in the reduction of CO2 emissions of more than 12.000 tonnes per annum.
