On the occasion of COP 12, the CBD Global Partnership for Business and Biodiversity, called into life in 2011 on the basis COP 10 decision X/21, held its fourth meeting. Germany was appointed a member of the new Executive Committee.

‘Biodiversity in Good Company’ has participated from the beginning in building up the Global Partnership. Step by step, the network is taking shape, with a membership of currently 19 national/regional initiatives. Among the challenges ahead are resource mobilization for the platform, getting more countries in, and improving governance and procedures.

At the fourth meeting of the Global Partnership and after a nomination process in the run-up to the conference, an Executive Committee was set-up. Germany is now a member of the Executive Committee and is represented by our initiative in combination with the German “Unternehmen Biologische Vielfalt 2020" platform. The Executive Committee is made up of the following countries:

India (2 years); Germany (2 years)---to be followed by France; Netherlands (1 year)---to be followed by the EU; Canada (1 year)---to be followed by Mesoamerica; Brazil (2 years); Japan (2 years):  South Africa (1 year).
