Welcome

Until recently, biodiversity in the corporate context went largely unnoticed. Relatively few firms recognised the potential behind a systematised biodiversity management plan, which would not only reduce corporate risks but enable businesses to take full advantage of entrepreneurial chances.

The latest publication from the ‘Biodiversity in Good Company’ Initiative, the 'Corporate Biodiversity Management Handbook', offers businesses for the first time a practical tool for comprehensively and directly implementing a biodiversity management system. The handbook systematically deals with the topic of business and biodiversity from a corporate perspective. The Centre for Sustainability Management at Leuphana University Lüneburg worked on the publication in close cooperation with the Initiative.

The online version offers you the possibility to explore the topic from different starting points and according to your specific needs. Therefore it introduces the field, defines specific Fields of Action, examines the Impact Factors businesses should be aware of, helps you to create a Business Case for Biodiversity, while offering you specific tips on how to Operationalise your corporate biodiversity management. Along the way the tips, facts and information are backed up with Best-practice Examples from companies across the globe.

We hope to provide you with an informative and helpful tool and wish you every success in your corporate biodiversity management efforts.

How the handbook works

Using the menu on the left will allow you to rapidly move from one area of interest to another. Once at a page of interest, you will find a concise introduction text as well as a number of drop down menus offering you more specific information about the particular topic. Clicking the drop down bar will open the box revealing new information on the interlinking nature of business and biodiversity.
