C 8–5 Tips Checklist 4 on Distribution Logistics (Goods Distribution)

Introduction
Use the following tips as suggestions:
C 8–5–1 Biodiversity-friendly organisation of distribution services
Reduce the fuel consumption of your vehicles (use low-fuel vehicles, training in economical driving, change to less CO2-intensive fuels, etc.)

Applicable / Feasible?

Organise your distribution services to be CO2 neutral. Compensate for the unavoidable CO2 emissions by purchasing CO2 certificates. For this, there are a number of organisations offering energy efficient and regenerative energy projects as well as reforestation projects that support an increased biodiversity mix.

Applicable / Feasible?

When making a commercial shipment, find out about the transportation methods used. (see also detailed checklist C8-3)

Applicable / Feasible?

Remember when sending products out, the packaging has an impact on biodiversity (see also Checklist C 5-2-3).

Applicable / Feasible?

C 8–5–2 Use of environmentally-friendlier Shipping providers
Select environmentally-conscious shipping providers, which offer for example a climate neutral freight service. This will enable you to compensate your CO2 emissions through climate projects.

Applicable / Feasible?

Consider using high-speed rail courier services, instead of standard road haulage solutions for your regional or national package shipment needs.

Applicable / Feasible?

Consider using bike courier services for city deliveries as well as some intercity jobs (combined with rail transport).
